1. What is Form DIR 3 KYC? 

Any director allotted with a DIN by or on 31st March 2018 and whose DIN is in approved status, is required to submit his KYC details to the MCA. This procedure is mandatory for the disqualified directors too. For filing your DIR 3 -KYC form, you’ll need the following documents: 

a. Details of Nationality and Citizenship details like gender, and date of birth. b. Permanent Account Number (PAN). 

c. Voters Identity card. 

d. Passport (mandatory if a foreign national is holding a DIN). 

e. Driving License. 

f. Aadhaar card. 

g. Personal Mobile and Personal Email Address. 

h. Residential address. 

2. Why is it important? 

When a director fails to file the e-Form by the due dates (or extended due date) on MCA 21 portal, the DIN of such director is marked as ‘Deactivated due to Non-filing of DIR-3 KYC’ by the department. In such cases, the director can re-activate his DIN by filing the missed out e-Form DIR-3 KYC after paying a late fine of INR 5,000.
